Australian Broker Moves 30 June


A selection of ratings upgrades and downgrades, target price changes, and commentary for ASX stocks from major research houses.



Research analysts have been focussed on trading updates and news items so far this week. McMillan Shakespeare (MMS) and Eclipx Group (ECX) have seen reviews after they provided the market with FY20 earnings updates, and a renegotiation of the agreement between Jumbo Interactive and Tabcorp (TAH) announced yesterday appears to have worked in TAH's favour.

 

Eclipx Group Limited ECX Macquarie retains outperform rating on Eclipx Group Limited (ECX). Raises price target from $1.29 to $1.35. Notes trading update shows operations have bounced back post covid-19 better than expected.
Eclipx Group Limited ECX Morgan Stanley retains overweight rating on Eclipx Group Limited (ECX). Retains $1.7 price target. Notes rebound in EOL volumes, but sees some uncertainty going forward.
Eclipx Group Limited ECX UBS retains buy rating on Eclipx Group Limited (ECX). Retains $1.45 price target. Describes update provided as marginally positive. Sees some upside risks in second half.
Jumbo Interactive Limited JIN Morgan Stanley lowers Jumbo Interactive Limited (JIN) price target from $16 to $12.50. Retains overweight rating.  
Jumbo Interactive Limited JIN Morgans upgrades Jumbo Interactive Limited (JIN) rating from add to hold. Raises price target from $9.62 to $11.58. Describes TAH renegotiation as costly, but necessary for longer term gain, and to build market confidence.
Mcmillan Shakespeare Limited MMS Macquarie raises Mcmillan Shakespeare Limited (MMS) price target from $7.47 to $8.87. Retains neutral rating. Says difficult to find clarity in MMS outlook.
Mcmillan Shakespeare Limited MMS Morgan Stanley retains overweight rating on Mcmillan Shakespeare Limited (MMS). Retains $11.50 price target. Notes MMS guidance shows likely improvement in net profits..
Mcmillan Shakespeare Limited MMS Ord Minnett retains hold rating on Mcmillan Shakespeare Limited (MMS). Lowers price target from $11.80 to $9.20. Describes writedowns as an expected development.
Newcrest Mining Limited NCM Macquarie downgrades Newcrest Mining Limited (NCM) rating from neutral to underperform. Retains $28 price target. Notes impact of strengthening Australian dollar on earnings growth, disruptions to June quarter.
Scentre Group SCG Jefferies upgrades Scentre Group (SCG) rating from underperform to hold. Raises price target from $1.93 to $2.32.  
Santos Limited STO Macquarie downgrades Santos Limited (STO) rating from outperform to neutral. Lowers price target from $6.05 to $5.50. Cites possible delays in recovery of oil price.
Tabcorp Holdings Limited TAH Citi upgrades Tabcorp Holdings Limited (TAH) rating from neutral to sell. Raises price target from $2.80 to $3.40. Sees renegotiation of Jumbo Interactive working in TAH's favour, lowers risk of agreement, and should save $20-$30 million p.a. Upgrades FY21 NPAT by 5% and FY22 by 2%.
Tabcorp Holdings Limited TAH Credit Suisse raises Tabcorp Holdings Limited (TAH) price target from $3.20 to $3.60. Retains neutral rating. Notes notes Jumbo deal accounts for 20% of digital lottery sales outside of WA, so reduction in net commission to Jumbo will benefit.
Tabcorp Holdings Limited TAH Macquarie raises Tabcorp Holdings Limited (TAH) price target from $3.80 to $4. Retains outperform rating. Expects new Jumbo agreement to generate extra $20 million in earngins each year.
Tabcorp Holdings Limited TAH Morgan Stanley retains equalweight rating on Tabcorp Holdings Limited (TAH). Retains $2.60 price target. Sees marginal benefit in Jumbo deal renegotiation.
Telstra Corporation Limited. TLS Ord Minnett retains accumulate rating on Telstra Corporation Limited. (TLS). Retains $4.10 price target.  
Woodside Petroleum Ltd WPL Macquarie upgrades Woodside Petroleum Ltd (WPL) rating from neutral to outperform. Raises price target from $23.50 to $25. Notes oil prices likely lower than previously expected, however WPL well placed to unlock value by acquiring Chevron's share of North West Shelf.
