ThinkTrader – Quick start guide

Not all mobile trading apps are created equal. At ThinkMarkets, we like to think that the best apps in the market are the ones created to fit every lifestyle from the ground up. That’s exactly how ThinkTrader was developed.

Learn a bit more about how to make the most of its powerful features when trading around a busy schedule with our quick start guide.

Let’s dive right in!

Manage your funds wherever you are

Having complete access to funds is paramount to any trader, and both versions of the ThinkTrader app make this as simple as it should be. Whether you are funding your account for the first time, need to deposit on the go to sustain a position or want to withdraw funds from your account, this can all be done in a matter of moments.

Desktop users can manage their funds with ease via the ThinkPortal, but the ThinkTrader mobile app means that you can also deposit and withdraw anytime, anywhere.

arrowTap More
arrowTap Manage Funds
arrowSelect either Deposit or Withdraw

So no matter where you are or what you are doing, you can deposit and withdraw with ease!

One phone… Four charts!

One of the most standout features of the ThinkTrader mobile app is the advanced charting system that allows you to monitor four different instruments on the same screen. We’ve done this by harnessing the power of modern mobile devices so that you no longer need to be sat in front of your computer to get a professional trading view.

Add to this the 80+ intelligent indicators and the 50+ drawing tools available on both the mobile and desktop version of the app, and you will see why ThinkTrader has received over 15,000 5* reviews on the App Store and Google Play.

200+ Cloud based alerts and triggers

We know that you are unlikely to be logged into your platform 24 hours a day and not only that, you might trade on different devices. For this reason, we have developed a system that provides you with a cloud-based alerts and triggers to keep you in the loop even when logged out of your account.

Why is this useful? Well, let’s say that you’ve been trading on your ThinkTrader desktop app, you got a feeling that a particular instrument will reach a certain level, but now you need to go out. By setting an alert, you’ll get a notification to all your devices as soon as it happens, even if you are not logged in. This is the beauty of the cloud-based functionality of the app.

You can choose from our huge range of instruments, and then select what trigger you wish to apply to set off the alarm. This can include specific prices and values or even indicators. Many traders use indicators as part of their trading strategy, so we’ve added 80+ intelligent indicators for you to choose from, including the classic moving average envelope and even our in house developed TrendRisk Scanner. What is TrendRisk Scanner? Well let’s dive right into that…

How to set an alarm

mobile

Mobile: Simply tap the More icon within the app, then tap Alarms, then finally tap the + symbol to set your alarm.

desktop

Desktop: Setting an alarm within the desktop app is simple. Just right click within any chart and select Add Alarm or by right clicking on an instrument within your Watchlist and selecting Create Alarm.

The TrendRisk Scanner

Whether you are too busy to research your next deal, haven’t been alerted to a specific market event, or just want a little inspiration, the TrendRisk Scanner has got your back. Developed deep within our R&D department, the TrendRisk Scanner was designed to constantly scan each and every market to present you with fresh trading opportunities. lt displays the target direction and price, the estimated timeframe and the RiskReward ratio.

In both the mobile and the desktop versions of TrendRisk Scanner, you can open a position on a selected market and the system will set its own Stop Loss and Take Profit limits for you, but don’t forget, you can amend or remove them before and after placing the trade.

How to find trading opportunities

arrowTap TrendRisk Scanner
arrowSelect to filter by either Time, Security or RiskReward
arrowTap the instrument you wish to trade
arrowTap Open Position
arrowTap Confirm BUY/SELL

Watchlists

ThinkTrader puts hundreds of instruments at your fingertips, but it’s also important to have the ones you trade more frequently as close as possible. For this reason, we suggest editing your Watchlists to include your favourite assets for ease of access and to allow you to cast your eye over the live prices as and when you need.

And remember, you can create multiple watchlists and change them at any time. So, if there is an upcoming economic announcement you can easily add/remove instruments in seconds.

How to set up your watchlist

mobile

Mobile: Tap on the magnifying glass to start a search for your required instrument, then simply tap the heart icon to include it. If you wish to reorder or remove an asset from a watchlist, simply tap the pencil icon in the top left hand corner. To remove an instrument, tap the heart icon and to reorder its position, tap and hold the icon with 3 lines and drag into position.

desktop

Desktop: Simply search for the asset you require in the Search bar and click Add to include it in your watchlist. Once you have selected the assets to include in your watchlist, you can reorder them by holding a left click on an instrument and dragging it into position. To remove an instrument from your watchlist, you can either follow the same search as above and click ‘Remove’ or simply right click on the instrument in your watchlist and select ‘Remove’.

Opening/Closing Deals

Speed is often of the essence in trading, so we’ve made it super easy and convenient to open and close deals across our platform. Remember, as a prudent measure of risk management, you can also add Stop Loss and Take Profit orders when you place a new deal to get the execution that you require. These can be added, amended or removed from an open deal after it has been placed.

How to place a deal

mobile

Mobile: Opening a new deal on the ThinkTrader mobile app couldn’t be easier and here are a couple of ways you can do it:

arrowSimply tap on the Buy or Sell buttons of your selected instrument within a Watchlist.
arrowTap on the Buy or Sell buttons at the top of any chart that you are viewing. You can also drag the price higher or lower to place an order as well as being able to drag the Stop Loss and Take Profit features.
desktop

Desktop: There are several ways to open a deal on the desktop app. Here are the easiest ones:

arrowTap on the Buy or Sell buttons at the top of any chart that you are viewing. You can also drag the price higher or lower to place an order as well as being able to drag the Stop Loss and Take Profit features.
arrowHover over the Buy or Sell indicators on a chart and then click either the Buy or Sell buttons.
arrowYou can also open a new deal by right clicking on an existing deal in your Active tab. This could be useful should you want to hedge your position
arrowAnother way to open a deal is by placing an order from within the chart. To do this, simply hover over the price you require within any live chart, right click and select either Buy Limit, Sell Stop or Order window.

Monitoring your open positions

Now that you’ve got some open deals, you want to monitor them in case you want to take action. Many traders place stop loss and take profit limits on their deals for effective risk management, but you may wish to close a deal based on makret events. The ThinkTrader app makes this simple.

mobile

Mobile: You can switch between Open deals, Orders and Closed deals from within the Positions tab. Focusing on the open deals for now, you can clearly see all the live information about each open deal you have as well as their opening conditions. For ease, multiple deals of the same pair will be grouped together, and you can see their combined profit or loss. This can be useful for making your trading decisions and gives you the ability to close them all at once, a feature so special that it has its own section!

desktop

Desktop: You can view all of your open deals within the Active tab of your account summary. From there, a right click will give you a whole host of options including the ability to close or partially close the deal, open a live chart of the specific instrument or even open a new deal on it.

Closing multiple deals

As we touched on before, you may have multiple deals open on the same instrument and you may want to close them all at once, so we designed a feature to take care of this for you. Let’s suppose that you opened a buy trade on EUR/USD, but when it didn’t go your way you sold EUR/USD to hedge your position. Now let’s suppose that the price is in the sweet spot you were looking for, but you need lightening fast execution to take advantage of the price. Well, the ThinkTrader mobile app lets you do just that in two taps.

In the Positions tab within the app, if you have two or more positions open on an instrument, they will be grouped together with a combined profit or loss total and a cross next to it. By tapping the cross and confirming the action, you can close all deals on that instrument at the same time to ensure you get the price you were looking for.

In addition to this, both the desktop and mobile versions of the app allow you to close all your open positions at the same time. In the desktop app, you can do this by right clicking on an open deal and then selecting ‘Close All Positions’. In the mobile version, you can simply tap the cross next to your total within the Positions tab.

But wait… there’s more!

You can also chat with our dedicated customer service team directly within the app. They are available 24/7 to assist you with any of your trading needs.
