Financial spread betting is a form of derivatives trading that allows you to speculate on the price movements of a number of markets.
When opening a spread bet, you’re always quoted two prices – the buy price and the sell price.
The buy price is the level you’ll enter the market at should you wish to go long (if you believe the market will rise), and the sell price is the level you’ll enter the market at should you wish to go short (if you believe the market will fall).
The difference between these buy and sell prices is known as the spread. The tighter a spread, the more potential to maximise your profits.
We offer our traders tight spreads across all of our spread betting products, starting from 0.8 points on EUR/USD and 0.04 points on WTI oil.
Any profits that you make by financial spread betting in the UK are currently exempt from Capital Gains Tax, which saves you a considerable amount of the profit you earn while trading.
Add this to the fact that as spread bets are derivative products, meaning they are exempt from UK stamp duty, spread betting can be a highly tax efficient form of trading for UK traders.
Don’t forget that tax laws in the UK are liable to change, and these products may not be suitable for all investors.
In traditional shares trading, once the market closes, trading ceases. However, with spread betting you don’t physically own the underlying asset, allowing you to trade the market around the clock throughout the trading week.
You can spread bet across a wide number or different markets, which allows you to diversify your trading portfolio.
We offer spread betting across currency pairs, indices, alternatives, energies and metals, with competitive spreads on all markets.
Risk Warning: Derivative products are leveraged products and can result in losses that exceed initial deposits. Please ensure you fully understand the risks and take care to manage your exposure.
