In Friday’s trading session in the local markets, the Top 40 closed the day up by 0.38% and the Resources 10 sector went down by 0.43%, the Financial 15 went up by 0.6%, the Industrial 25 went up by 0.68%. The rand traded at R17.16 against the dollar, R21.27 against the pound, and R18.65 against the Euro. On Friday, the AllShare and Top40 reached new all-time highs in the trading session. Something of interest was the share price action for Thungela Resources which went up by just more than 6% after breaking a critical support level of R230 per share in the previous trading session.

On the commodities front, Brent Crude oil is trading at $85.98 a barrel and WTI Crude oil is trading at $78.81 a barrel. Gold Spot price is currently trading at $1928.97. Platinum Spot is now trading at $1013.48 and lastly, the Palladium Spot price is at $1639.75.
Across the globe, the S&P 500 closed the day up by 0.25%, Dow Jones closed the day up by 0.08% and the Nasdaq had a 2% climb. The FTSE 100 was up by 0.05%, the DAX was up by 0.11% and CAC40 was up 0.02%. In the Asian markets, the Nikkei 225 is currently up by 0.15% and the Heng Seng is currently down 2.73%.
