In Monday’s trading session in the local markets, the Top 40 closed the day down by 0.56% and the Resources 10 sector went up by 0.08%, the Financial 15 went up by 0.26%, the Industrial 25 went down by 1.13%. The rand traded at R17.38 against the dollar, R21.48 against the pound, and R18.87 against the euro. In yesterday’s trading session, the share prices for Naspers and Prosus declined by 5.22% and 6.11%, respectively, following the drop in the share price of the Chinese tech giant, Tencent.
Investec’s share price reached new all-time highs in the trading session. The share price is up 2.93% so far this year and is up 36.05% over the past year.

Yesterday, Pepkor released a three-month trading update for the period ended31 December 2022. Group revenue increased by 6.5% to R24.3 billion. Clothing & Merchandise revenue increased by 10.8%, while Furniture, Appliances and Electronics revenue increased by 10.8%. Building Materials revenue increased by 3%. The Fintech segment revenue decreased by 10%.
This morning Vodacom Group reported a trading update for the quarter and Shoprite reported a six-month operational update.4
