Which synthetic index is best for beginners?

Volatility 50 or Volatility 75. They move in one smooth, continuous way, so there's less to get used to compared with instruments that also have sudden bursts.

What's the difference between Volatility, Boom, Crash and Jump indices?

Volatility moves continuously. Boom and Crash are mostly calm with occasional bursts, up for Boom, down for Crash. Jump adds a burst roughly every 20 minutes no matter which number you pick.

Does a calmer instrument mean lower risk?

Not automatically. Every synthetic index offers the same maximum leverage ceiling (up to 2500:1) at its smallest position size, what differs is the lot size at which that leverage starts stepping down, not the ceiling itself. Worth checking the contract specs for whichever one you pick rather than assuming from how calm it looks.

Can I practice on a demo account first?

Yes, and it's a genuinely good idea. Synthetic indices are available on ThinkTrader and MT5 demo accounts, so you can try things out before using real money.

Is Weekend Storm a good starting point for beginners?

Not as your very first instrument. It behaves more like a real market than the others, so it's worth trying once you're already comfortable with how the rest of the range works.

What does the number in an instrument's name mean?

For Volatility, it's how big the typical moves are. For Boom and Crash, it's roughly how long the calm stretches are between bursts. For Jump, the bursts always happen roughly every 20 minutes, so the number just changes their size.

What's a common mistake beginners make with Boom, Crash or Jump indices?

Treating the number in the name as a countdown to the next burst. It's a statistical average, not a schedule, so a burst isn't more likely just because it hasn't happened in a while.
