Markets took a hit on the back of rumors the Bank of Japan is about to adjust its yield curve control targets.

"So what!" I hear you say?

Actually, stuff the Bank of Japan does often has an outsized impact on markets due to the propensity of the Japanese pension industry to invest in overseas assets. Even a small move in Japanese benchmark rates could send markets reeling (as we saw Thursday!).
